<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black toner capable of giving a high-density printed image with a high transfer rate even in printing in a high temperature and high humidity (for example, at 30°C and 80% RH) environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The black toner contains at least a resin and a colorant, wherein the colorant is a black pigment prepared by depositing carbon black on the surfaces of black iron oxide compound particles, the carbon black shows a pH of 2.0 to 6.0, and the acid number of the black toner ranges from 3 to 35 mgKOH/g.
