<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect precisely a torque with suppressing influence of disturbance or rotation dependency. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An output side cylinder 22 is provided with a reference slit 61; an input side cylinder 21 is provided with a first detection slit 62 and a second detection slit 63, of which distance from the reference slit 61 in a circumference direction increases or decreases reversely each other depending on a torsion of a torsion bar 10; a magnetic flux is applied from inside of the input side cylinder 21 by a first drive coil 31 and a second drive coil; and a phase difference between a phase of a detection signal in which a magnetic flux is detected by a first detection coil 41 provided at a position facing the first detection slit 62 outside the output side cylinder 22 and a phase of a detection signal detected by a second detection coil 42 provided at a position facing the second detection slit 63 outside the output side cylinder 22 is calculated by a measurement circuit 50. The reference slit 61, the first detection slit 62, and the second detection slit 63 are designed not to overlap in the circumference direction regardless of the torsion of the torsion bar 10.
