<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen pump which operates at normal temperature and pressure, allows to easily develop large oxygen transport ability, and avoids electrolyte leakage and the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A porous separator 1 impregnated with an electrolyte solution comprising ferrous chloride, calcium chloride and water is interposed between a porous gas-exchangeable negative electrode 3 and a porous gas-exchangeable positive electrode 2, and power is supplied from an external DC power source to both the electrodes through a power collection structure to thereby transfer oxygen from the negative electrode side to the positive electrode side, the electrode sides being mutually isolated in a gas phase. Thus, the objective oxygen pump which operates at normal temperature and pressure, allows to easily develop large oxygen transport ability by an increased area, and avoids electrolyte leakage and the like, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided.
