PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to properly perform setting processing of a communication parameter and network participation processing without selecting a role of each apparatus even when the role is not determined beforehand in the case of automatically setting the communication parameter. SOLUTION: This communication method of this communication apparatus has a first retrieval process for retrieving the opposite communication apparatus on a predetermined communication channel, a second retrieval process for retrieving the opposite communication apparatus on all communicable communication channels, and a retrieval control process for using the first retrieval process and the second retrieval process to retrieve the opposite communication apparatus.
