PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which is focused on person's face within an screen regardless of position/range of a person within the screen, to photograph the person without changing composition between when automatic focusing and when photographing. SOLUTION: A CPU 115a performs automatic focusing control by detecting person's face from input image data, and setting at least a part of the detected person's face as a range-finding area.
