The system has an emergency call module (2) located in or on a motor vehicle (1) for detecting emergency- or theft situations based on two emergency- or theft information. An emergency output is formed from one of the information, where the output is transmitted by a transmission path (10). A vehicle controller (3) i.e. body control module, is operated in or on the vehicle. Another emergency output is formed from the other emergency- or theft information, where the latter emergency output is transmitted by another transmission path that differs from the former path. An independent claim is also included for an emergency calling method for a motor vehicle.
