The field devices (F1,F2,F3) have a field bus interface, and are formed for a communication of a fieldbus-protocol. The field devices have also a field-device-specific device identification that is specific for the field-device-type. The field devices are formed such that they are operated in an emulation module, in which device identification is varied from the field-device-specific device identification. The field devices are formed for communicating the Profibus(RTM: Field bus communication in automation technology)-protocol. An independent claim is included for a method for operating the field devices of the process automation device.
