Provided is a viral infection therapeutic drug having a mode of action that is different from conventional antiviral drugs and thereby inhibits the appearance of drug-resistant viruses. When a polyalkyleneimine having a pre-determined molecular weight is administered to a living body, the polyalkyleneimine is adsorbed by the virus that has invaded the living body and the virus is prevented from being adsorbed by cells or from invading cells.  As a result, the virus is deactivated and the viral infection is thereby treated or prevented.
