<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cubic boron nitride sintered body tool which is firmly joined with high rigidity and capable of withstanding severe cutting conditions of recent years. <P>SOLUTION: In the cubic boron nitride sintered body tool, a cubic boron nitride sintered body having the composition containing 80-98 vol.% cubic boron nitride and a bonding phase is directly joined on a tool base material via a joining layer containing 0.1-10 wt.% Ti and 15-50 wt.% Cu, and the balance Ag with inevitable impurities. The bonding phase in the joining surface of the cubic boron nitride sintered body in contact with the joining layer is present in a non-continuous state in the cubic boron nitride, and in each bonding phase present in the non-continuous state, the bonding phase with its area being 0.01-2 μm<SP>2</SP>occupies ≥80% of the total area of the bonding phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
