PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of enhancing the durability of a polarizing film itself.

SOLUTION: There is provided a polarizing film impregnated with a predetermined inorganic compound, wherein an inorganic crosslinked state is internally formed by the inorganic compound. Since the inorganic crosslinked state is formed within the polarizing film, the mechanical strength of the film itself is high, considerable improvement of heat and moisture resistances can be achieved as compared to conventional polarizing films, and this polarizing film can be suitably used in a polarizing plate which is a principal member of a liquid crystal display.
