<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple pretreatment method that requires little energy and does not need a neutralization process in saccharifying cellulose and hemicellulose contained in woody biomass by enzymatic treatment. <P>SOLUTION: The method for saccharifying bark of woody plant includes cutting bark of a woody plant, pretreating the cut bark with an aqueous solution of carbon dioxide under heating and pressure, then saccharifying the pretreated bark with an enzyme. In the method, preferably the pretreatment temperature is 100-200°C, the pretreatment time is 5 minutes to 2 hours and the woody plant is timber of the genus Eucalyptus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
