PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method capable of confirming paper sheet supply information of a heat-sensitive paper sheet set in a paper sheet supply means, to carry out printing in response to a heat-sensitive characteristic of the heat-sensitive paper sheet, without worsening a printing quality. SOLUTION: This printer includes: the heat-sensitive paper sheet stored in the paper sheet supply means, and having a radio tag for storing the prescribed paper sheet supply information; a printing head means for heating the heat-sensitive paper sheet, and for carry out the printing based on an input print data; a conveying means for guiding the heat-sensitive paper sheet stored in the paper sheet supply means to the printing head means, and for conveying the heat-sensitive paper sheet printed by the printing head means to an ejection port; and a printing control means for reading the prescribed paper sheet supply information from the radio tag provided in the heat-sensitive paper sheet, and for carrying out printing control in response to the heat-sensitive characteristic of the heat-sensitive paper sheet, based on the paper sheet supply information.
