<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving user-friendliness by: displaying a time required for copying and an image obtained by printing on a display means; and immediately displaying a new copy time and a new image, even when a copy mode and the number of copies are changed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, when a copy operation is started, an original is read with read resolution corresponding to the copy mode selected when the copy operation is started, a copy time is calculated, the result is displayed on a display part, and the image corresponding to a copy image is displayed on the display part. When the copy mode is changed after the image is read and before the image is printed, conversion into the image having resolution corresponding to the copy mode in which stored image data are changed is performed, the image obtained by the conversion is re-displayed on the display part, the copy time is re-calculated, and the result is displayed on the display part, and further when a plurality of prints are selected, the copy time corresponding to the number of prints is calculated and displayed.
