PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant application device which can sufficiently and stably feed and apply a lubricant to an image carrier. SOLUTION: In the lubricant application device where a solid lubricant 3b is slidingly rubbed by a brush roller 3a and is fed and applied to an image carrier 1, a flicker member 11 is provided at the upstream side in the rotary direction of the brush roller than the solid lubricant 3b, and a space 12 formed by the brush roller 3a, the flicker member 11 and the solid lubricant 3b is closed. In this way, the brush roller 3a can be slidingly rubbed with the solid lubricant 3b while constantly maintaining a state where toner is removed by the flicker 11, and the lubricant can sufficiently feed to the image carrier 1.
