PURPOSE: A power generation control system and a method thereof are provided to improve the fuel efficiency of a vehicle by setting a target voltage according to a driving state and battery state of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle information sensor unit(200) watches the velocity of a car, the amount of supplied fuel, the brake operation, and the opening degree of an accelerator. A battery sensor unit(100) senses the state of a battery. A regulator(300) controls an alternator according to a target voltage. A controller(400) decides the driving state of a vehicle according to the vehicle information. The controller decides the target voltage according to the states of the battery and the driving state of a vehicle.
