PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a background replacing device for performing normal background replacement processing, and to provide a photographing system. SOLUTION: The background replacing device includes: an image acquisition unit for acquiring a series of photographed images obtained by a plurality of times of photographing while one photographing condition is being selected from two kinds of photographing conditions; a condition decision unit for determining which of the two kinds of photographing conditions the photographing condition corresponds to for each of a series of photographed images; a photographed image selection unit for selecting and combining photographed images from each of groups of two mutually adjacent images in a plurality of groups of images, where each includes not less than one photographed image and the photographing conditions are common for not less than one photographed image while forming a line by alternately changing photographing conditions in a line of a series of photographed images to decide a pair of photographed images; and a background replacement unit for replacing a background in the photographed image with another background, based on two photographed images, namely the pair of photographed images.
