<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of operating a boiler system free from supply of steam degraded by carry-over, to a load side to which the steam is supplied, in a case when an operation of multiple installation boilers is performed while controlling the number of boilers. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this method of operating the boiler system A for operating the boilers 1 while controlling the number of boilers, with respect to the multiple installation type boilers 1 in which a water level of can water is raised when the boilers 1 are operated from a cold state to protect boiler tubes from combustion heat of a burner, all of boilers 1 are forcibly operated with low load for a specific time before starting the operation of the boilers 1 while controlling the number of boilers. As the boilers 1 are brought into a hot state by the forcible operation, the boiler tubes are easily protected from combustion heat of the burner, and the raising of the water level of the can water becomes unnecessary in starting the operation of the boiler 1.
