<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of using both services of an SMS and an e-mail service and improving reliability when using the SMS. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The communication device includes a first transmission part for transmitting data whose transmission destination is specified by a telephone number on the basis of an SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), and a second transmission part for transmitting e-mail whose transmission destination is specified by a mail address. Also, the communication device is provided with a data conversion part for converting data for a short message transmitted by the first communication part to data for e-mail which can be transmitted by the second transmission part. Further, the communication device is provided with a transmission control part for executing control so as to convert the data from the short message to the e-mail using the data conversion part and transmit it by the second transmission part when the transmission of the short message by the first transmission part fails.
