<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent birds from building a nest on a pole mounted switch or arms mounted in the upper part of the pole, and causing an accident in a distribution line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An apparatus 4 for preventing nest building including a semicylindrical body composed of a rigid insulating material is fixed on the top surfaces of the arms 3a and 3b which suspend the pole mounted switch 2 thereon. The top surfaces are the rigid semicylindrical body to thereby prevent a nest-building material from depositing on the apparatus 4 for preventing the nest building and pole mounted switch 2 or the arms 3a and 3b if birds drop the nest-building material from the sky. Furthermore, protrusions 5 and 6, and magnets 7 are provided on the undersurface and lateral face contacting the arms 3a and 3b of the apparatus 4 for preventing the nest building.
