PURPOSE: A composition containing PPAR-alpha activating agent is provided to promote skin differentiation, to strengthen skin barrier function, and to treat atopic dermatitis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for PPAR-alpha contains linoleoyl-glycerol of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. A composition for treating or preventing atopic dermatitis contains 3-linoleoyl-glycerol of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The 3-linoleoyl-glycerol is isolated from Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. The compositions contain 0.000001-10 weight% of 3-linoleoyl-glycerol. The compositions are used in the form of skin, lotion, cream, foundation, essence, gel, pack, foam cleansing, soap, or ointment.
