PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to properly execute setting processing of a communication parameter and network participation processing without selecting a role of each apparatus even when the role is not determined during automatic setting of the communication parameter.

SOLUTION: This communication apparatus connectable to a communication network advises the existence of the communication apparatus by a communication channel assigned to the communication apparatus, then sets another communication channel different from the assigned communication channel among communication channels available in the communication network, and retrieves the opposite party communication apparatus that functions as a providing apparatus for using the set communication channel to provide a communication parameter. The communication apparatus alternately and repeatingly executes the advice and the retrieval, and switches communication channels used for the retrieval each time the repeating is performed once or a plurality of times.
