PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved technology and a system for rendering a smooth curve and a shape defined by the smooth curve. SOLUTION: A smooth curve is expressed in a graphics texture by setting texels that are located inside a curve 1 to a value greater than a predetermined threshold and texels that are outside the curve 1 to a value smaller than the threshold (or vice-versa). The texture value returned for a sampled position can thus be used to determine whether a sampled position should be treated as being located inside the curve or not.
