<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of accurately capturing a perfect moment on film by shortening time required from instructing photography until starting photography. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a digital single-lens reflex camera including a mirror and a mechanical shutter for selectively switching incidence of subject luminous flux through a photographic lens on an imaging device or incidence thereof on an optical finder, up-operation that the mirror is made to retreat to the outside of the optical path of the subject luminous flux is started (t9) in the midst of charge operation of the shutter (t8-t11) or before charge operation thereof (t7-t8), so as to perform the charge operation of the shutter and the up-operation of the mirror in parallel.
