<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To practically prevent the opening of an opening end of a folded sheet or a sheet bundle, and to improve the consistency of sheets. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sheet processing apparatus 1 is equipped with a curling roller pair curling an end of a sheet, a return paddle and a rear end stopper 62 abutting on one end of the sheet in a conveying direction and carrying out alignment in the conveying direction, and a folding device 71 folding the sheet or the sheet bundle curled by the return paddle and the rear end stopper. One end is not curled and the other end is curled to a predetermined length by the curling roller pair, and after aligning the uncurled one-side ends by the return paddle and the rear end stopper, the sheet or the sheet bundle is folded by a folding means so that a recessed face side of the curled other end faces a side of the one end.
