<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that takes a suitable photograph according to change of an imaging area of each apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with: an area data generating means of generating area data specifying an imaging area that an imaging unit which images a subject to generate image data is imaging; a transmission and reception unit that transmits and receives information including the area data and information including image data the imaging unit images within a prescribed time after the area data are generated to and from other imaging apparatus; a mode setting unit which sets a photographic mode of the imaging unit by using the area data and image data that the imaging apparatus generates, and area data and image data received from the another imaging apparatus; and a control unit which controls the operation of the imaging unit according to the photographic mode that the mode setting unit sets.
