<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact generator which has excellent functions including heat dissipation, exhaustion and sound attenuation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The compact generator includes an internal combustion engine 2 and a casing 14 covering around the internal combustion engine 2. In the casing 14 formed by arranging a refrigerant part 42 storing a refrigerant 42a, a first porous part 43, a gap 44, a sealing part 45 and a second porous part 46 in a layered manner in this order from the side of the internal combustion 2, the refrigerant 42a absorbs the heat generated from the internal combustion engine 2, the heat is transferred to the sealing part 45 and the second porous part 46 positioned on an outer side for heat dissipation and the exhaust part 32 and the second porous part 46 are connected for efficient exhaustion. In addition to sound insulation with a heavy object of the sealing part 45, sound attenuation is attained through sound absorption with the first porous part 43 and the gap part 44 and the second porous part 46 and exterior.
