The component has a core made of a paper honeycomb and enclosed by double-sided cover layers. The paper honeycomb is finished by coating with synthetic resin i.e. unsaturated polyester resin, or polyurethane. The paper honeycomb is coated by dip molding. The paper honeycomb is formed by hexagonal cells. The cover layers consist of a metal plate such as aluminum plate or a metal foil such as aluminum foil. Sandwich material is made in a continuous manufacturing process. The paper honeycomb and a connection of the paper honeycomb are coated with the cover layers in a single-stage process.
