1,106,703. Hydrostatic transmission. F. A. SUMMERLIN. 4 June, 1965 [8 June, 1964; 11 Jan., 1965], Nos. 23669/64 and 1200/65. Addition to 1,017,571. Headings F2C andF2D. In a motor vehicle hydrostatic transmission of the kind described in the parent Specification wherein an engine driven fixed displacement swashplate pump 11 having a fixed cylinder block and rotary swash plate delivers to a hydro-pneumatic accumulator 17 until the pump delivery pressure is equal to the pressure in the motor circuit 14, 15 whereafter the remainder of the pump delivery is supplied through a network of non-return valves 16 and a reversing valve 18 to a fixed displacement motor 13, the load on the pump 11 is reduced when the pump speed is below a predetermined value by providing a reciprocable column of liquid in a duct 98 between the pump supply passages. At low pump speeds the pump delivery which during each half cycle acts on opposite sides of the liquid column causes the latter to reciprocate. As the pump speed rises the amplitude of the reciprocation is reduced and the delivery pressure and load on the pump rises thereby charging the accumulator and delivering to the motor circuit. A relief valve 93 is provided in the motor circuit in series with a valve 94 which opens when the engine speed or accelerator pedal position is below a predetermined value.
|
