A valve 12 for automatically regulating the performance of a multi-cylinder compressor is actuated in a stepwise manner by a piston 24 inserted in the valve and acted upon at 15 by the suction pressure of the compressor and at 14 by a medium pressure greater than the suction pressure, the valve having ribs 45 and the piston recesses 46 for co-operation with members, such as balls 41, 42, which are stationary in relation to the valve housing. The balls are mounted in a cage 43 and the piston 24 which is loaded by a spring 36, is connected to the valve by a pair of springs 38, 39. A bellows 23 subjected through a line 19 to the suction pressure of the compressor regulates the position of a needle valve 22 controlling the pressure in a chamber 14 connected to a medium pressure line 18 and hence the position of the valve. As the latter moves to the right it isolates servomotors 32-... 35 in succession from the medium pressure line rendering suction valves of the compressor inoperative. The valve 22 may be controlled by the temperature in a refrigerated compartment and the medium pressure may be obtained from the lubricating oil pump of the compressor.</p> |
