In an assembly of a panel 34 having a keyhole shaped slot 36 and attached to an apertured support 35 by means of a resilient plastics fastener 21, the fastener comprises a head 23 attached to the panel 34 and a shank 24 (not shown) which is engaged in the aperture in the support, the head being provided with a main flange 25 adjacent the shank and a smaller retaining flange 26 spaced from the main flange, the dimensions of the flanges being such that neither flange can be passed through a minor portion of the slot in a direction normal to the panel and such that only the retaining flange can be passed through a major portion of the slot in a direction normal to the panel and the cross-section of the head between the flanges is such that it is a force fit through a neck between the minor and major portions of the slot. As shown, the assembled stud is pressed into a flanged socket 22 so that the stud snap-engages the inner open end of the socket. In another arrangement, Fig. 9 (not shown), the stud is formed with a hollow frusto-conical section adjacent the larger flange, followed by a reduced neck portion and an end portion for snap-engaging the socket adjacent the inner open end thereof. In a further arrangement Figs. 10, 11 (not shown) the stud is formed with a plain cylindrical stem for engaging a socket similar to that of Fig. 9. In a similar arrangement, Fig. 11 (not shown), the free end of the stem of the stud is of reduced section and the bore of the socket is shaped accordingly. In the arrangement according to Fig. 12, a stud 70 includes a sealing flange 73 and a split stem 77 which snap-engages a panel 81 directly. In a modification Figs. 14, 15 (not shown), the stem is split over its whole length. In a modification of the key-hole-shaped slot in the trim-pad, the minor and major portions of the slot are connected by a waist portion 99, Fig. 16 (not shown). |
