<p>The present invention provides a process for producing an optical device, characterized by comprising the steps of providing a supporting substrate having an aligning ability, stacking a composition, containing at least a polymerizable liquid crystal material, for liquid crystal layer formation on the supporting substrate and holding the layer at a temperature which brings the layer to a liquid crystal phase, to form a liquid crystal layer having predetermined liquid crystal regularity, applying an actinic radiation to the liquid crystal layer to convert the liquid crystal layer to an optical function layer (step of forming optical function layer) by polymerization (cross-linking), and heat treating the optical function layer at or above a temperature which corresponds to an isotropic phase after forming the optical function layer, wherein the supporting substrate is a stretched polyethylene terephthalate film having an aligning ability.</p> |
