An electrode for a fuel cell, a membrane electrode assembly containing the electrode, and a fuel cell system containing the membrane electrode assembly are provided to improve output power by using an additive having high electron and hydrogen ion conductivity. An electrode for a fuel cell comprises an electrode substrate; and a catalyst layer which is formed on the electrode substrate and comprises an active catalyst and a heteropolyvalent acid additive supported on an inorganic support. Preferably the additive has an average diameter of 1 nm to 100 micrometers and its content is 0.1-5 wt% of based on the total weight of the catalyst layer; and the inorganic support is selected from the group consisting of SiO2, zeolite and alumina. |
