MODIFIED ASPHALT COMPOSITION USED IN TREATED FINE WASTE EPDM POWDER

PURPOSE: A method for preparing an asphalt composition modified with waste EPDM powder is provided to improve rheological properties such as viscoelastic property and elasticity and to suppress noise in road driving of vehicles. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a modified asphalt composition comprises the steps of: melting 80~90 weight% asphalt at 160 °C and injecting the molten asphalt into a reactor attached with a heater; heating the reactor to 160~170 °C and adding 1~15 weight% waste EPDM powder(30~200 mesh) and 0.5~10 weight% process oil; homogenizing and mixing the mixture at 160~170 °C for 1~4 hours in a stirrer; adding 1~4 weight% styrene-butadiene-styrene rubber and homogenizing and mixing the mixture at 160~170 °C for 1~4 hours; and adding 0.2~3.0 weight% any one or two or more compound selected from a polyethylene resin, polypropylene resin, acrylic resin, and epoxy resin.
