METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING MCS LEVEL FOR UPLINK BURSTS IN BROADBAND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND BASE STATION SUPPORTING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An MCS level determination method of an uplink burst in a broadband wireless communications system, a device thereof, and a base station which supports the same are provided to maintain stable channel status by determining the MCS level of the uplink burst in consideration of the power status of a terminal. CONSTITUTION: A CINR(Carrier to Interference and Noise Ratio) calculation unit(210) calculates an reachable CINR using the number of sub channels and maximum CINR. A CINR comparison unit(230) compares the reachable CINR and a target CINR. If the reachable CINR is higher than the target CINR, a determination unit determines an MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level corresponding to the target CINR to the MCS level of a uplink burst. If the reachable CINR is lower than the target CINR, a lowest MCS level determination unit compares an MCS level corresponding to the target CINR and the lowest level. If the MCS level is different from the lowest level, a first control unit(270) reduces the target CINR and provides the target CINR to the comparison unit.
