PURPOSE: A method and a device for processing an image are provided to reduce power consumption of a display device by converting the brightness of pixels included in a conversion target region. CONSTITUTION: A region separator(1010) distinguishes a conversion target region and a conversion target region from an input content based on the brightness of the pixels of the input contents. A brightness converter(1020) converts the brightness of the background pixels of the text pixels on the conversion target region according to a predefined rule. The brightness of the converted test pixels is larger than the brightness of the converted background pixels.
