PURPOSE: A low cost cold cathode lamp, a back light apparatus, and a liquid crystal display are provided to represent color gamut near LED by emitting a spectrum which is close to the chromaticity coordinate of a standard NTSC. CONSTITUTION: A cold cathode lamp(1) comprises a glass tube(2), an electrode, and a lead line. An inert gas is sealed in an internal space(5) of the glass tube. The internal space of the glass tube is closely sealed up. A phosphor layer is formed in the inner wall surface(4) of the glass tube. A particle shaped fluorescent substance is laminated on the phosphor layer. The electrode(7) is arranged within the internal space of the glass tube. One end of a lead line(9) is welded in the electrode. The other end of the lead line passes through the glass tube. The other end of the lead line is drawn to the outside. The phosphor layer is the green-emitting phosphor. The phosphor layer contains CMZ(Ce(Mg,Zn,Mn)AlxOy).
