PURPOSE: An automatic folding device for packing boxes and a method thereof are provided to put articles in an open box and automatically fold the box into a package. CONSTITUTION: A packing box(10) is opened into a rectangular shape by compressing and rotating the box with a compression rotating unit(120). The upper wings of the packing box are spread and fixed by a wing spreading unit(210) and articles are put in the open box. The wing spreading unit is removed. The wings are folded with a movable frame moving along a guide rail formed on the side base frame of a base body and an adhesive is applied on the upper surface of the wings. The adhesive-applied wings are pressed by a pressing unit.
