The present invention relates to a low carbon steel heat exchanger comprising two or more parts. At least one of said two or more parts includes either a low carbon steel base material with a carbon content of 0.001 - 0.5% by weight or a low carbon steel base material with a carbon content of 0.001 - 0.5% by weight and a silicon content of 0.001 - 0.5% by weight, together with a filler layer wherein an aluminium - silicon (Al/Si) or an aluminium - silicon - zinc (Al/Si/Zn) compound filler material is coated on the surface of said low carbon steel base material. Said two or more parts are brazed together with said filler layer as the medium. The heat exchanger of the present invention excels in strength and has the property of enabling the Nocolok brazing of the aluminium parts to the low carbon steel parts that comprise the heat exchanger. In addition, during the brazing process, there is no change in the surface colour of the aluminium - silicon (Al/Si) or the aluminium - silicon - zinc (Al/Si/Zn) compound filler layer of the low carbon steel heat exchanger of the present invention. This is due to the low carbon content of the base material which allows the aluminium parts of sections that do not need to exchange heat to be replaced and the strength of the heat exchanger parts to be improved. |
