The folding handle of a floor polisher 10 consists of two rods 12, 13 pivotally supported on opposite sides of the body of the polisher and which converge to an operating handle 14, the tubes being jointed midway of their length and the joint being developed as a carrying handle 17. The rods comprise an upper pair of tubes 15 and a lower pair of tubes 16. The upper tubes are inserted into the operating handle 14 and held therein by a threaded bolt 18. The lower ends of the tubes 15 are displaceably supported on the carrying handle 17 within the ends of the tubes 16 the facing surfaces of the tubes having co-operating depressions and projections 22, 23 which form a catch device, springs 21 serving to press the ends of the tubes 15 outwards against the ends of the tubes 16. The connecting device 28 of the cord 26 which passes through the lower tube 16 of the rod 13 to the motor is secured to the upper end of the said tube. The upper end of the tube 16 of the rod 12 receives the operating lever 29 of a device for locking the handle to the body 10. |
