Provided is a suction type filtering-condensing apparatus, which comprises a sludge bath (12) and a plurality of filter plates (14) arrayed adjacent to each other in the sludge bath (12). The filter plates (14) include a net-shaped support plate (50) and a bag-shaped filter cloth (18) so that a filter chamber (76) is formed in the filter cloth (18). Further comprised are a suction means for sucking the filter cloth (18), a bulging means, and a tension applying means for applying a tension at all times to the filter plates (14). The suction type filtering-condensing apparatus is characterized in that the filter cloth (18) is divided transversely of the corresponding filter plates (14) by a plurality of vertically extending stitches (74) thereby to form the filter chamber (76) for each division, and in that the transverse length of the portions of the filter cloth (18), which are divided by the adjoining stitches (74), is set larger all over the vertical direction than the transverse length of the support plate (50), so that the individual sections have bulging allowances for the filter cloth (18) to bulge.
