PURPOSE: An automatic controlling device of a continuous AF(auto focus) and a method thereof are provided to provide a high resolution, and to reduce an AF time of a subject while filming an image by performing the continuous AF. CONSTITUTION: An automatic controlling device comprises the following: an image sensor(130) outputting an image signal by receiving an external image from a lens unit(110); an operation unit(140) detecting a feature parameter and a focus value of a subject by the image signal; a mode determiner(160) automatically changing a general/specified/tracking mode of the subject, and automatically setting a fixed/variable window of the subject based on the feature parameter; and a lens controller(150) generating a controlling signal to control a lens driver(120) to operate a continuous AF by the focus value.
