PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative resist composition for a color filter, which is excellent in pigment dispersibility and alkali developability.

SOLUTION: The negative resist composition for the color filter comprises: (A) a pigment dispersant which is a graft copolymer having structural units represented by formulas (I) and (II), provided that an amino group in formula (I) forms a salt with (R5)2PO2H or R6SO3H; (B) a pigment; (C) an alkali-soluble resin; (D) a polyfunctional monomer; (E) a photoinitiator; and (F) a solvent.
