<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processing method and apparatus therefor for efficiently transmitting a video signal of HDTV or the like by reducing its transmission band by half while holding a current signal resolution as further as possible through relatively simple processing. <P>SOLUTION: In order to transmit a luminance signal and a color difference signal of a digitized video signal, quantization accuracy of the video signal is reduced by shifting each of the luminance signal and the color difference signal by one bit, a fixed value is added to the luminance signal of which the quantization accuracy is reduced, the color difference signal is converted into a signal with a minus sign, and these luminance signal and color difference signal are combined by arithmetic operation, thereby generating a composite video signal and transmitting it to desired equipment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
