PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving an electrophoretic display device which can prevent a boundary of pixels having different gradations from blotting and can obtain clear display.

SOLUTION: The method for driving the electrophoretic display device includes a first image display step ST21 for inputting first potential or second potential corresponding to image data to a plurality of pixel electrodes, inputting a signal in which the first potential and the second potential are periodically repeated to a common electrode and driving an electrophoretic element to display an image based on the image data and a second image display step ST22 for holding the plurality of pixel electrodes at the potential and inputting potential between the first potential and the second potential to the common electrode.
