<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system that does not require a resident to use a master unit for operation, appropriately carries out zoom drive or pan/tilt drive of a slave unit camera, and improves visibility of an image output to a monitor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A plurality of human sensors 101a, 101b, 101c, 101d, 101e, 101f, 101g, 101h are prepared according to the vertical height position and lateral positions of a slave unit 1 on the front face of the slave unit 1. A master unit control unit 206 of the control unit 2 controls a slave unit control unit 107 according to the height positions and/or lateral positions assigned to the sensor which senses the presence of a human body, and carries out the zoom drive and/or the pan/tilt drive of the camera 102. Moreover, the master unit control unit controls the slave unit control unit according to the height position assigned to the sensor which senses the presence of the human body at the same timing out of the plurality of human sensors, and carries out the camera pan/tilt drive.
