The instrument has an unscripted-performance function by which phrase data of lower beats are stored. Keys are associated with a specific area of a clavier (104). A chord scale note table is formed from 12 scale notes that emanate from a chord tone. A C-note is provided as a base note by the chord tone. A chord scale note is arranged as an inverted form of a chord and provided as a lowest note. A CPU (100) restrains note jump by changing a key number of the phrase data using the table. An independent claim is also included for a program for an unscripted-performance function.
