Provided is a hydrocarbon-based lubricant base oil in which the urea adduct value is no more than 4 mass%, the viscosity index is at least 100, and the cycloparaffin content measured by field desorption mass spectrometry is 30-60 mass% based on the total saturated fraction. The hydrocarbon-based lubricant base oil enables a high level for both viscosity-temperature characteristics and low-temperature viscosity characteristics, and has outstanding evaporation characteristics and energy-saving characteristics.
