<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element having a phosphor, usable regardless of a mounting form, and lowering light loss, and efficiently irradiating the phosphor with light emitted from a compound semiconductor thin film. <P>SOLUTION: This light emitting element includes: a substrate 10; a compound semiconductor layer 20 formed on a surface of the substrate 10 and having a luminescent layer 24; a recessed part 12 formed on the back face of the substrate 10; the phosphor 40 arranged in the recessed part 12 and emitting light of a wavelength different from that of light emitted by the luminescent layer 24 when excited by the light; and a transparent layer 30 covering the recessed part 12, having permeability with respect to the light emitted by the phosphor 40 and formed of an inorganic material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
