PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for further improving gelation resistance of a (meth)acrylic acid-based polymer. SOLUTION: A production method of a (meth)acrylic acid-based polymer is provided, in which a reaction device having a polymerization reactor is used and a polymer is obtained by batch polymerization of a monomer component containing a (meth)acrylic acid in the polymerization reactor, while allowing a (meth)acrylic acid-based polymer to be preliminarily present in the reaction device by 0.5 to 10 mass% with respect to 100 mass% of the (meth)acrylic acid-based polymer (in terms of a solid content) after the production.
