PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling excavation of inverted sections for preventing excessive excavation sections for more deeply excavating the inverted sections than necessary from being formed to the utmost, while measuring the inverted sections with ease and precision. SOLUTION: The method of controlling excavation of inverted sections 2 firstly surveys the inverted sections 2 before excavation, surveys the inverted sections 2 on the way of excavation after excavation start by construction vehicles 3 in the optional number of times, and further surveys the inverted sections 2 after excavation completion with a surveying system for connecting a total station 10 enabling ranging-angle measurement without prisms, computing devices 20 for input of design cross section coordinates of the inverted sections 2, and personal digital assistants 30 having output means 31 and input means. Thereby the method easily surveys the inverted sections without using the prisms, and it excels in survey precision by being surveyed from before-excavation to after-excavation, thereby preventing the formation of any excessive excavation sections.
